Working for a living

by elizabeth on June 27th, 2007

Somehow, summer continues to be more stressful than the school year.

If you are just tuning in, the kids, and, my husband (a teacher) are out of school for the summer. My schedule, as I am wont to explain to them just a little too loudly sometimes, does not change. I go to work the same as I do the other 9 months out of the year.

Now, I have no need for anyone to feel sorry for me, I have to work no matter how you slice it. But, it seems like we create some extravaganza every day, and, it’s wearing me out. Somehow, I had this delusion of leisurely evenings in the back yard while the kids play, but, we haven’t scheduled that part.

I think I need to go to work to rest.

I thought about this today and made a list over at my blog about how some things stay the same and some things change for me as a mom who works away from home.

I do wish there was more time in the evenings for relaxing in the yard.

You should start walking in the door, have one of the kids bring you a beer, and ask BusyDad “what the hell is for dinner.”

Just one time, and I bet they get the message. (Well at least BusyDad should).
