Work-life balance is doctor’s order
Many people give a lot of consideration to what work-life balance means, but the doctor says it’s good for us. OK, maybe not in so many words, but the topic made it to WebMD and there’s some pretty good advice there with 5 Tips for Better Work-Life Balance.
While there’s nothing earth shattering in the advice, all of it is a good reminder, the point that spoke to me the most was: Figure Out What Really Matters to You in Life.
Often, we assume that work-life balance means getting everything done from 9-5 and leaving work behind, having lots of time to spend with family in the evenings while you prepare a delicious and healthy meal and getting tasks done in order to enjoy leisure time all weekend.
But, do we really know what activities will satisfy us the most and lead us to what we feel is a more “balanced” life?
The article points out that:
…getting your priorities clear is the first and most essential step toward achieving a well-balanced life. The important point here is to figure out what you want your priorities to be, not what you think they should be.
Defining your priorities can help you focus and choose the things you want to do and set your goals for getting things done.

It’s so true! Sometimes I think we are all just trying to do what we think is best or what it seems like everyone else is doing. We have to know OUR priorities and what’s important to us. Thanks for the post!!!

Oh, come on. I am still trying to find the part one balance, I can’t actually work on the quality part too (yet). :)
