Win a Firm Cardio Sculpt DVD

by Cherie Burbach on August 11th, 2008

Fitting in exercise has always been a difficult thing for me and my friends.  It seems that it’s the one thing we tend to put off, with the good intention of getting a workout in after we finish work, or first thing when we get up, or perhaps even after we put the kids to bed.  (Which might mean that you’re exercising at 10:00 at night!)

Getting fit with your kids is probably the best way to add a little balance to your life.  Then again, it doesn’t always work out that way.

I used to head to the gym, but as I started to get busier my visits were less and less.  Now, I work out with DVDs at home and they really help.  I think having a collection that you can vary depending in your mood is key.

To that end, I’ve got a DVD of The Firm Cardio Sculpt to give away to one Career and Kids reader.  I’m also interested in how each of you fit in exercise with a busy schedule and kids.  So to enter this giveaway, leave a comment on this post with the way you keep fit with a busy life.  There are no wrong answers.  In fact, if you say you currently DON’T fit in exercise right now I will surely understand!  Go ahead and comment anyway.  Just be sure to do it by Sunday, August 17th.

I’ll choose a winner at random and announce the lucky guy or gal the next day.

I walk everywhere that I can…..I try to pretend that I don’t have a car; its better for me and the environment !

I also have a couple of weights and a balance core trainer thingy that I use at night time!

Thanks so much, I’d love to win!

I try to take a 30 minute walk at least 3 times a week in the evenings. It is about all I can seem to squeeze in. A workout DVD would definitely shake things up a bit!

For me, fitting it in used to mean being active with my kids — walking, swimming, etc. plus some added DVD work at home. Since having a new baby (6 months ago) I haven’t managed figuring it out with an infant and a total of 3 at home. I’d love trying this!

I’m an at-home exerciser, too. Or at least I was, using videos and a treadmill, and walks outside. I’ve fallen off the wagon lately, so a new DVD might be just the thing to jump start me!

I’ve heard so much about the amazing results The Firm workout delivers. I’m a full-time government contractor for the US Air Force, AND I’m also enlisted in the UASAF Reserves, AND I’m a part-ime student at Embry-Riddle Aueronautical University, AND I’m a single mom! I could definitely use this workout to stay on top of my fitness.

I stay fit by walking. During the school year I walk my kids to school instead of letting them catch the school bus. I am also a college student so I walk around my campus instead of driving and using the elevator.

  • DBN
    Aug 11, 2008 at 6:42 pm

I generally take the kids to school, head to the gym and then leave the gym and head to work. There are showers at the gym. The incentive is that I can sleep a little later and roll into gym clothes to take the kids to school. I just have to have my gym bag and outfit ready in the car. It has worked pretty well since January. This would be nice for the weekend and days that I have to be at work early and can’t get to the gym.
I initially started working out to get fit and have more energy for the kids… it has helped some, but at the same time it makes me more tired at the end of the day. Sigh. I live in a world of catch-22s.

Fitting in an exercise routine is hard. I take the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator at work and at the train platforms. I get off the bus a few stops ahead of mine and walk the rest of the distance or walk to a further bus stop if I don’t see the bus coming. I have to try to add it natually into my day or it won’t happen like it used to.

I love walking but its way to hot out there. I dance with my toddler and with every daily activity I try to add some toning and strengthing, like standing in front of the sink to wash dishes or baby, I can do squats, knee bends or side twists. I chase him around the house and play games like all around the mulberry bush (pushing him around in a plastic box then at the end with, “Pop goes the weasel!” I pick him up high in the air - he likes to do it over and over and over so after a while I can really feel it in my arms and tummy!

Sometimes I do this walking program that comcast has - and the baby likes to do it too - or be held while I do it! Its easier then walking outside, a 15 minutes walk - or half an hour back and forth can have my face deep lobster red and not from exertion -from the heat~
