When wives outearn husbands
There’s an interesting discussion going on over at Working Dad in response to the Betty Confidential survey that says marriages are stressed when wives make more than their husbands.
Some readers agree with the premise of the survey results while others criticize males who “can’t handle” women who make more, and some even feel the survey is flawed.
Then, (as with any media outlet website it seems), there’s the one commenter who thinks women are getting a taste of what men have gone through for ages regarding pressure to earn money to support a family and they get the pressure they deserve.
For what it’s worth, I’ve always made more than my husband, but I’ll bet you’ve already figured that out since he’s a teacher. As far as I know it’s not a big deal since we never have enough money anyway.

I have always made more money than my husband. For 6 years my husband stayed at home to raise the kids. There has never been any weird feelings.

They made this all about “the money” and in doing so potentially missed some other “issues.”
In a “normal” (man making more) scenario, it is not all that uncommon for stress in the relationship to come from hours at work, stress from high position employment, need for travel, etc.
That doesn’t make “the money” the reason for the divorce. But in this scenario, they give no other reasons for the divorce except the “stress” of a female making more money than the man.
Sure it could be a cause in some cases, where you have some guy with more ego than brains. But I hardly think that this is “always” the case.
