Vacation for almost everyone
“Mom, how do you and dad get paid in the summer?” asked my 11 year old son.
My husband is a teacher, and he gets paid year round rather than 9 months, because well, we like food, clothing and shelter, even in the summer, and, I get paid year round because I work year round.
The kids and their dad are officially out of school and I’ve had a few days off, and I guess my son was getting used to it. His dad will be home with him all summer, but I go back to work tomorrow.
My family will be at home doing regular things and I will just continue to do my thing, because it’s just what we need to do. We’ve got a couple of vacations planned, so there’ll be fun times for me, too. Also, without the burden of homework and school, we’ll have more time in the evenings to do things together.
Sometimes, it’s hard for me when I’m the only one who has a schedule and has to be gone all day. I know we are very fortunate that he can be home with them, but, sometimes I feel like I’m missing out on the fun, it just takes me a few days to get settled into the summer routine.
