Time to update the work wardrobe

by mike on October 10th, 2006

It is time for me to give in. The work pants that kind of fit me are old and the cuffs are tattered. The pants that I bought when I lost a little weight after that are nowhere near fitting now and won’t be unless I loose quite a few pounds. It is time to give in and update the wardrobe a little bit.

I like simple. I like casual. I like something that I can wear at home without worrying about them too much. So, I normally go with Dockers. And, they have to be flat front because my wife, who has better fashion sense than me, says they look better.

Dockers® Original Khaki Classic Fit - Flat FrontI’m starting work with a new client next week, so I should probably make sure I shave and look decent. So, later this week, I’ll be ordering a khaki and a black pair of these. That should hold me over until I can get relatives to buy me clothes for Christmas.

Have any of you men given in and let your wife pick out your clothes for you yet?  I have no fashion sense so it would probably be a smart thing to do, but I hold out to try and hold on to some amount of self-respect.  Should I just give in?

I suggest getting some pants made out of the newer wrinkle resistant fabric if you can. I have a pair of khakis that are teflon coated (in some way, I have no idea how) and liquid just beads up on them, so they’re almost impossible to stain.

After four years of marriage, most of my clothes have either been bought for me by my wife, her sister, or by me in the company of my wife (after approval, of course). It helps that I don’t have any dress code at my job (40 hr. per week, boring developer like you).

The wrinkle free is a good idea.

I end up doing a lot of shopping with my wife and giving her final say. Well, “a lot” would be a gross overstatement since it has been about 18 months since I bought an clothes that didn’t have an Iowa Hawkeye logo on them.

Funny that you mention that since my latest shirt purchase was a black polo with an Ohio State logo. (sorry about the loss)

Anytime Iowa turns the ball over 4 times in a game, I expect them to lose. You should have been at that stadium, though. Just crazy.
