Time off for your time off
It’s vacation time for us!
As if getting ready for a vacation isn’t hectic enough, we just got back from another trip, we have to pick up my daughter from camp before we can get on the road, and, we have to drop off the middle child the day after we get back, so, all his camp stuff has got to be packed before we leave.
Whew!
Who knew writing run-on sentences could be that exhausting?
Anyway, I usually try to take the day off from work before a vacation to get things ready, and, I try to be off the day after vacation, as well. However, this time I couldn’t because, as I said, we just got back from a trip, and, I barely have enough vacation time left to take the trip at all.
Also? Sometimes, I feel guilty for being gone those extra days, when, in reality, it’s not that big of an issue.
Do you schedule extra days around your vacation to prepare?

We try to always take a day off after vacation. We call it a buffer day and get caught up on laundry, rest, and any other chores that got neglected right before we left. It eases our transition back to everyday life.

I never take that time off before or after, wish I had, swear I will “next time”, rinse and repeat.
Being a “business owner” (consultant) though makes it that much harder since a “day off” for me basically equals “closed” and “no income” hence the reason I “need” to get back to work as soon as possible.

[…] We got all our trips in, and, middle child off to camp, but, I’ve been unable to follow my own advice to take time off after your time off. […]
