Tim Russert, working dad
I’ve really been struck by the untimely death of American journalist, Tim Russert, and I’ve written about it all over the place.
He had a high profile job, but in all the heart felt tributes given him over the past 24 hours by many famous people, the theme that comes up time and again is how devoted he was to his family: his wife, his son and his father.
The NBC staff in particular, recalled how their boss was always the first one to inquire about their kids and the immense pride he took in his son, Luke, a recent graduate of Boston College.
Tales abounded about how Russert talked about Luke, and they all seemed to know him, having watched him grow up. I learned how he used to step off the set of his hard hitting political shows to take a call from his son at any time.
He had a great passion for his family and for his job, and that’s quite a legacy to leave.
