Spring Break Assumptions
It’s Spring Break for a lot of people this week, and, though I’m all for vacation, I’m also finding it hard to get anything done in the workplace because no one is around.
What used to be a time that a few people took off for childcare reasons, or, to spend a day or two with the kids while they were out of school, seems to have morphed into the assumption that, “Duh, everyone is gone during Spring Break. It’s like summer, only it’s in the Spring.”
Perhaps my generation never got over the eighties, where every day was Spring Break? I don’t know.
While we don’t have the money, and, I don’t have the time off to take a full out vacation trip every spring, we try to do something fun, and, have taken the occasional trip.
However, I think I prefer saving my efforts, and, time off to take a nice summer vacation where you don’t have back to school looming at the end of the week, and, the weather is more predictable.
Unless of course, you’re taking us to the beach tomorrow. What time do you need us to be ready?

Our school has a 2 week Spring Break which is nice for hubby and the kids but not so much me. We also don’t take a trip and it kills the girls because 85% of their classmates either go skiing or go to Florida so we try to placate them with lots of fun activities we don’t normally have time to do.
Spring Break in grade school is a new concept for me because when I was growing up we would sometimes get a 4 day weekend around Easter but only if we hadn’t missed too much school for snow.
