Kadi, over at Guerrilla Parenting, tagged me eons ago for this pregnancy questions meme.

And, since I am the place where memes go to die, it’s taken me quite a while to get to it.

So, here ya go:

1. How did you find out you were pregnant?

Heh, I’ll use the third time as an example.

We had two older kids and this wasn’t really the plan, but, I just knew, even though I tried to deny it. I refused to go get a test until my husband dragged me to the store.

2. How did you tell your partner (if you have/had one)?

I actually tried to pickle my third child at a wedding.

I had rationalized that I wasn’t actually pregnant and I just kind of quit thinking about it.

However, I remembered the possibility more than a couple of drinks into a wedding reception and told my poor husband right then and there.

So much for a moment for the baby book.

3. Did you secretly hope for a girl or a boy?

Yes, puppies would have been awkward.

4. Did you feel ready to have a child?

See above “not in the plan”.

(Note: we can’t imagine life without him, now.)

5. What bit of advice did you get that you hated?

I’ll have to go with Kadi here and say that I HATED when people told me to sleep when the baby was sleeping, something about other kids needing food, clothing, safety, etc.

6. What bit of advice did you get that you appreciated?

Anyone who said, “Let me watch the baby so you can sleep.”
