Perks of working at home
Working at home recently has really lowered my average stress level. I get to spend more time with my wife and kids. I have less commute and learned to drink black coffee instead of pop. Wonderful and great.
But, what kind of special stuff do I really get out of this deal on a selfish, personal level.
Videos
Over the last few days I watched Lucky Number Slevin, I Robot, and V for Vendetta. Over the last couple years, if I did not see a movie at the movie theater, I probably have not seen it. Having movies in the background is a great way to drown out the quiet and pass the time.
Music
I expected to listen to more than I have, but I have still listened to several CDs that normally do not get played. It is nice to catch up on some old tunes.
Two Computers
I can not emphasize this one enough. I’m not talking about a multi monitor thing which is pretty sweet in its own right. I’m talking about using my laptop and my personal computer at the same time. That’s how I have been handling watching the movies that I rent from Blockbuster. It is also nice for opening PDFs without freezing your browser and other multitasking type of things. My mind seems to deal with two screens better when they are controlled by two mouses and two keyboards.
Hair
This has been a blessing and a curse. I have neglected shaving even worse than normal during this stint at home (Sorry, hon). But, I did manage to grow out my normally shaved short hair and then cut it into a little mohawk. That is pretty sweet. I’ll have to make the big decision on whether to keep it long term in a couple weeks but for now, it is pseudo rebel me. Better check your wallets.
