Parenting guilt

by elizabeth on March 21st, 2008

I’m not one to dwell on parenting guilt, but I think most every parent, especially mothers, feels guilty about something at some point in their lives.

DC Metro Moms has a comprehensive round-up of parenting guilt posts.

While it’s certainly not healthy to wallow, it’s always nice to know someone else out there may have experienced some of the same feelings you have.

It is one of the things that especially women seem to do so much of, at least in the blogs I read. The self deprecation, the comments like “I am the worst mother in the world” or “Not Winning Mommy of the year.” and I find is very disconcerting that so many people (women in particular) seemed to have this sense of they are not doing their best.

Oddly enough, it is the one’s that probably are trying the hardest to do right by their kids are the ones that are the most self-critical.

I felt guilty for not being able to properly homeschool my eldest child. Now I feel better that she’s started to catch up with her regular school.

Ever heard of the Parenting Paradox? It’s in my latest post…
