Office Party Advice

by elizabeth on November 29th, 2007

lampshade.jpgThe holiday season is here, and, that means parties both at home and on the workfront.

Quintessential Careers offers advice on Office Party Do’s and Don’ts for keeping that office gathering professional and safe.

The office holiday party can be a sort of gray zone where people let their guard down when they shouldn’t, and, these are some good reminders.

Though it’s often parodied on TV, I’ve never really experienced a disastrous office party incident, unless you count the electric blue, crushed velvet suit worn, without ironic or trendy intentions, by an employee to a formal gathering last year.

Our biggest problem is trying to decide if it’s worth paying a babysitter in order to attend our respective office parties. On one hand, the nice party is free, but, on the other hand, we’d be paying a babysitter so we can hang out with people from work.

I always thought it was bad form to NOT go to the office party. Like it might effect advancement.

My husband and I got snockered at our Christmas party. We went out to his truck to make out. A few HOURS later, I sat up and realized everyone had gone home. And they had to walk right passed the truck to get out of the building.

It’s still humiliating to see people from that party. We had to get married to deal with the disgrace!
