Halloween at the office
How much candy did you eat at the office today? Two pieces for me. A lady walked around and gave the candy to each of us. Plus, there was a Halloween clip art type picture attached to my monitor. A few people wore very Halloween inspired clothes, but I did not notice anybody actually wearing a costume.
That seems about appropriate to me. I am not a big fan of celebrating stuff like that at work. I prefer to do that kind of stuff with my family.
When I finally got home (late night with a project due today that did not want to cooperate), we took the kids out trick or treating. This was the first year they really got it. They both walked up to the doors while we waited in the driveways. They said “trick or treat” and “thank you.” Our son wore a Rolie Polie Olie costume and out daughter wore a home made red ghost with red sunglasses and red necklace and red shoes and…well, you get the point. She thought it up and picked out all the accessories her self.
The small amount of Halloween at work was good for celebrating the holiday without being overkill.
Am I strange for not wanting big holiday festivities at work? What did your office do for Halloween?

Working in Mo-Jo corporate world, we of course had a variety of activities. Pumpkin contests, costume judging, feasts, kids trick-or-treating. Everything to make the fundamentalist Christians squirm. I chose to avoid the events. You know, some people enjoy corporate overlording life, others enjoy nipple clamps.

Well, that last comment was interesting.
I work at one of those “fundamentalist Christian” preschools. We did celebrate. We had a party, the kids dressed up in their costumes, and the parents participated too. We had trunk or treat in the parking lot. The kids really enjoyed it.
So, I guess we celebrated more than most people’s places of work, since I work with kids.
