Going on vacation can be more work than work

by elizabeth on January 17th, 2008

hammock.gifI’m fortunate enough to get to depart for a few days vacation with my friends, this morning.

I know how lucky I am to get to do this, don’t get me wrong.

However, the time, effort and expense involved getting my career settled for my absence, and, the kids settled for my absence is starting to make me wonder if it would be more relaxing to not go on vacation.

I’m sure once I actually get there it’ll be worth it, but, as of right now, the jury is still out on that one.

Once you get there it will definitely be worth it. I remember a trip I took a little over a year ago. My mother-in-law came to stay with the kids (ages 11 and 14 at the time). I also had a teacher there to help them with any homework and drive them to their activities. Wait! I also have a husband. I had lists and schedules printed out for all three of them. It took an army to replace one person. I won’t comment here on the implications of all of this. It would take up too much space.

Oh. And I work too. I did have to deal with work, but that was the easier part.

However, it was totally worth it! Have fun.
