Dressing for work
Some weeks I have all kinds of trouble dressing myself for work.
OK, there’s people who’d say I have trouble every day, but, they need to shut up.
This has been one of those weeks where nothing has felt right on me. I’ve already used my Friday default outfit, and, it’s only Wednesday. You know, that one clothing combination that requires no thought, and, you usually save it for Friday.
Do men have that one “go-to” wardrobe combination for when you don’t want to have to think about it, you just need to get out the door, or, is that a woman thing?

My husband’s office has a fairly casual dress policy but most days he tries to put on a “professional” appearance. However, when he’s on a deadline and he’s got a lot of reports to get out, he heads to the office in jeans, a Hawaiian shirt and Crocs. That’s probably his default outfit, Friday or not.

My husband was recently called out on his “go-to” outfit. The one he was wearing EVERY Sunday. I’ve hidden both the shirt and tie to make him explore other options…

Let’s be honest here shall we. All men have are “go-to” outfits. It is just what style we opt to go with (or are allowed to go with).
In more “corporate” setting we get to choose between, blue, black or some variation of gray suit (typically with a white, beige or pale blue shirt), and our only real “decision” is what tie to wear with it.
“business casual” Oh gee, then our choices are which pair of khakis do we wear with which collared polo?
(Am I overstating the simplicity? Maybe… but only slightly)

What I hate are the days that I think “Self, wear the blue pants and white button down” and realize I wore that the day before. Or yesterday when I pulled out khakis and a white sweater top and realized I had worn different khakis and a different white sweater top the day before. My clothes selection sucks. IF I have court two days in a row I am really up the creek as I have one suit. But! I have TWO summer suits so now I am SAFE.

My husband is allowed to wear jeans on Friday so inevitably Fridays are jeans and some sort of pseudo “cool guy” shirt that would look terrible under a suit or with real slacks, but is passable with jeans. I on the other hand, look cute every day. HA!

Yup, that’s pretty much the case right there.
One thign that never fails to astonish me is how my wife can remember something I wore in the past, as in “you’re wearing that short again? You wore that on Tuesday.” And “today” is, say, Friday. How does she remember that? And what is it with this time thing…how much has to pass until I can wear something again? See, I figure that once the garment in question had made it’s way back into the closet or drawer, everything has “reset.” But I guess I’m wrong about that.

I’m a secretary and I work in a nice small quiet office. I am the only sec. in the office so it can get lonely when your the only women. But I have gotten used to the fact that I work with men who both have wives so I can wear what I want and not have to worry about the flirtacious thing in the office. Yet, sometimes I wish I could wear the cute jump on the bosses desk with a hop skirts but I respect their wives and I am much younger so I’m not gonna parade around in little skirts and tops. Yet I do dress nice everyday. My best idea for you viewers is to get lot’s of beige and similar colors that way you can mix and match outfits so it’s never really the same. YOu may wear the same button up shirt with a different color top underneath and a nice pair of dress pants. I always match the belt earrings and shoes then wear a totally different color outfit. It’s fun and creative.
