Back to the office for many working parents
The holidays are over, and, it’s back to the routine for many of us.
We’ve enjoyed not having to keep up with homework, many (but, not all around here) sports practices have been on hiatus, and, even if you’ve had to go to work the past couple of weeks, it’s likely that the evening routine hasn’t been quite as hectic as usual.
However, January 2nd, the party might be over.
Let’s see if I’ve taken my own advice about Decompressing After Vacation:
- I’m taking tomorrow, January 2nd off to try to get the house put back together. This may be hampered by the fact that the kids don’t go back to school until the 3rd.
- Didn’t travel this year
- I did remember to leave myself some notes at work to identify the desk piles
- Haven’t planned anything special for the whole family, but, I am looking forward to a beach trip with my friends in a couple of weeks
- I’ll check work e-mails tomorrow
- Getting ready to collect backpacks, get lunch money together, and, do laundry right after I finish this post
- No lunch plans upon my return to work, but, I will make some calls if I’m not completely broke from Christmas!
What about you? What’s a good way to get back in the saddle again?

I at the same point! I have been off since 12/21. I don’t know who it is harder on … me or my two year old! She has been out of school since then as well. So, starting Monday I would bring up school and her friends. It seemed to work this morning. Don’t get me wrong, neither of us was excited to begin the routine! However, I think by talking about it a day or so ahead her stress was less…now if somebody had done that to me for my desk at work and stress!
