Back to School. Kind of.
Is it just me, or, does the first couple of weeks of school (for those of you with school age kids) seem like a rehearsal?
We’re still in the land of random half days, parent nights, and, doctor appointments that wreak havoc with child care, and, my work schedule.
It’s like nothing really happens until “after Labor Day”. However, the mid-term report cards come out toward the end of this month, so, something better be happening.

In Michigan, they passed a law that schools can’t start before Labor Day. Of course they don’t get out until late June, either!

That random half-day thing seems to be a private school thing. Our public school system has NO half days. Probably because the state doesn’t fund them if the kids miss more than 2 hours. I’d say the first half-week of school is rehearsal time, but they get down to it pretty well after that. And I’ve almost learned to haul myself out of bed at the appropriate time.
