And Nanny Makes Three
And Nanny Makes Three by Jessika Auerbach looks at the intricate dynamics of the nanny-parent relationship.
A mother of four, herself, she interviewed several caregivers and parents who hired them for insight into this sometimes complicated world. The candid thoughts that ensued seem to be an honest look at what goes on, the good, the bad, and, the ugly.
It’s very interesting, it approaches it from the dynamics of a romantic relationship examining areas such as love, money, guilt, need, values, intimacy, and, power, yet, it doesn’t seem to “take sides”. The parent perspective, and, the caregiver perspective are both represented well.
I have to admit, I know nothing about having a nanny, it’s not typical around here, and, this was very enlightening to me. Sure, people will occasionally refer (erroneously, in my opinion) to a frequent babysitter as “the nanny”, but, that isn’t even close to what a professional nanny, or, caregiver, does.
That type of relationship is obviously so much more.

As a professional woman, my nanny really helps me with my small children. It is hard to find one that is honest and so great with my children. It’s a tough interview process.
Also a babysitter, a great when your in a pinch but a nanny becomes part of the family.
Good luck to anyone considering hiring a nanny.
