An open letter to the media
Dear The Media:
I agree that working parents have some challenges. All parents do.
Really, when you think about it, everyone has their own set of challenges, and, we all aspire to find like-minded people to discuss and commiserate about them.
However, I just want you to know that not everyone who works leaves their kids at home alone, or, with a babysitter 25 hours a day, feeds them fast food every night, contracts out potty training and learning to ride a bike, ignores school volunteering responsibilities, and, has an out of control mess at home.
I mean, really, it’s not like I can’t remember that time I got it under control.
So, I would appreciate it if your portrayal of us in the media contained a little less stereotype, and, a little more helpful information about strategies for working parents, and, feature regular people who just happen to, for whatever reason, draw paycheck.
Thanks.
Love ya, mean it.
