Parenting Awards

I’m not sure what I think about this: Peoria mom wins Working Parent award.
At first glance, it looks happy and positive, and, it is. But, after I thought about it, I realized it bothers me, in a way, too. I’ve long maintained that being a working parent is simply a reality for many people, no […]

Requesting time off for “things”

As if I haven’t been off work enough, what with the kids and the house, I find that I have to have yet another day off tomorrow.
There’s several things I need to do, including taking my youngest to a dental appointment.
But, lately, when I’m requesting time off, I find myself being more and […]

Scheduling home repairs when you work

Nobody likes to schedule home repairs, especially when you have to enter between 8 and 12, or, 1-4 purgatory. But, when you work away from home, it becomes even more difficult to schedule these things.
While some places have repair hours later in the day, you’re at the mercy of others. I’ve learned that you […]

Why yes, I do ‘worrrrrrk’, but, we have phones there.

While we were eating, a woman, whom I recognize from school, came up to us. Though we have mutual friends, I don’t really know her.
But, I […]

I hear about people putting the little tykes to bed and enjoying adult time reading or watching a movie, or, even getting a little work done. […]

Really out of office?

Here’s a time management tip I never really thought of:
According to BBC Magazine, workers stressed out over the volume of e-mail they receive are putting up “out of office ” messages to screen incoming e-mails, and, hope that people don’t expect responses from them.
This “out of office” trickery is seen as survival for some workers […]

Entreprenuer Moms and parenthood

Aliza Sherman, of many Internet ventures, including WomenEntrepreneur.com asks, “Will Baby Change Business?”
Parent entrepreneurs are often in the situation of having to integrate baby into business if they want their business to continue. But, sometimes, it’s a tough decision whether or not to be up front about a baby in a business setting.
I hate […]

IQ Ranges for Various Occupations

Via Work at Home Mom Revolution, here’s a chart that lists IQ ranges for various jobs.
I have no idea how you’d use it, but, it was interesting.
I guess nurse is lumped in with “medical occupations”, but, I’m still looking for “blogger”.
